This week’s “Crime of the Week” focuses on a Homicide which took place in Reynoldsburg in 2017.
On Saturday, April 22, 2017, at approximately 1:24am, Reynoldsburg Police responded to a report of gunshots being fired on Lancaster Ave. Upon their arrival and scanning of the area, officers located the body of James Stennies in the parking lot of “Miracle Car Wash” in the 600 block of Lancaster Ave. Mr. Stennies had been shot several times. Although he was treated by medics, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. By all accounts, it appears that Mr. Stennies was washing his car in preparation of a trip later that day to Indiana to attend the funeral of a relative. The circumstances surrounding his murder are unclear, as his wallet, keys and cell phone were not taken by the unknown suspect(s) and were found on his body or in the vehicle. The vehicle is a blue 2001 Volvo that was found parked in the bay area of the car wash. A photo of Mr. Stennies may be viewed on our website at www.stopcrime.org.
The Stennies family is partnering with Crime Stoppers to offer a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the person(s) responsible for this crime.
