On May 12, 2023 Columbus Police received a call about two males shot at 1001 Atcheson St.
Officers responded and located two victims with gunshot wounds in the rear of 1001 Atcheson St.
Both were transported to a local hospital, where one of the victims succumbed to his injuries and
was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
Surveillance video in the area showed the suspect retrieving a firearm from a vehicle parked in front
of 998 Mt. Vernon Ave. The suspect waited for the victims to exit the store and then fired multiple
gunshots at them striking them both. Detectives were able to determine the Suspect to be Mr.
Charles A Calaway. Mr. Calaway is wanted for one count of Murder (F-1). Mr. Calaway is
believed to be armed and dangerous.
