This week’s “Crime of the Week” focuses on an Armed Robbery that took place in Columbus.
On January 5, 2022 at 6:10 p.m., Columbus Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Sullivant Ave. on a report of a male shot. Upon arrival, Officers located RASHAWN D GARNER inside with an apparent gunshot wound. Mr. Garner was transported to Grant Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 6:32 p.m. throughout the course of the investigation, Columbus Homicide identified multiple Suspects who were found to be under a separate DEA investigation. Columbus Homicide and the DEA began a joint investigation, which has led to multiple arrests un-related to the Homicide. It is believed there was an argument between Mr. Garner and one of the suspects prior to the shooting.
