Two Mifflin Township Police Officers Shot During Traffic Stop - Suspect at Large

Mifflin Township, OH — Two Mifflin Township Police Officers were shot during a traffic stop Wednesday (5/28/25) evening, leaving one officer in critical condition.

The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. near the intersection of Mecca Drive and Perdue Avenue. Officers initiated a traffic stop when the passenger fled the scene. The officers pursued the suspect when he turned around, opened fire striking both officers. Emergency responders quickly transported the injured officers to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver has cooperated with investigators while the passenger remains at large. Charges have been filed against the suspect, Daveonte Dixon, age 21 (DOB 6/6/2003), for 1 count of attempted murder and 2 counts of felonious assault.

"Our focus right now is on the recovery of our injured officers and bringing the individual responsible to justice," said Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin. "We are asking anyone with information to come forward immediately."

Local, state, and federal agencies are assisting in the search for the suspect. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
