This week’s “Crime of the Week” focuses on a Homicide in Columbus from 2021

On Friday, March 26th, 2021, at 8:24 p.m., Columbus Police Officers were called to the area of 2101 Schenley Dr. on a report of a shooting. On arrival, officers found 54yr old Earl Simmons, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. CFD Medic 18 transported Mr. Simmons to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased. According to witnesses, just before the shooting, Simmons had attempted to break-up a fight in front of 2101 and 2105 Schenley Dr. Shortly thereafter, several gunshots were fired in front of 2101 and 2105 Schenley Dr. One of the projectiles struck Simmons, fatally wounding him.
